Making It Work: Mary Tyler Moore

There hasn't been a new episode of The Mary Tyler Moore Show in over 30 years, but online streaming has allowed me to fall absolutely in love with the re-runs. Moore's main character Mary Richards is basically the original Carrie Bradshaw except, well, better. She's bright and spunky, and has an uncanny knack for looking amazing regardless of how bitterly cold the Minnesota climate might be. Go-go boots and jumpsuits? Sure! Four belts with one mini dress? Why not? She makes working in an newsroom as a highly underpaid "Assistant Producer" look like a dream. That's not to say that she's an unrealistic role model. She's the epitome of the single career gal getting out there, and making things happen for herself. If she can do it, so can you or I. Sing it with me, now. Come on, you know you want to.

Who can turn the world on with her smile?
Who can take a nothing day, and suddenly make it all seem worthwhile?
Well it's you girl, and you should know it
With each glance and every little movement you show it

Love is all around, no need to waste it

You can have a town, why don't you take it
You're gonna make it after all
You're gonna make it after all

Get the look with these awesome Mary-esque pieces over at Etsy!

  1. What an apt post. I'm loving that giant printer on the stand.
