Etsy Update: The Flash

Another week, another Etsy update! When sorting through the vast items on my to-list list, I couldn't help but want to pair this awesome trench with every sassy slip available. Black lacy slip dress + trench coat = flasher chic? I say yes.

Queen of Quirk: Kate Bush

There are some days when I feel like no matter how much I accomplish, there is always a huge pile left on my plate taunting my efforts. As a grad student and all around multi-tasker, I'm noticing this feeling more and more frequently. The only way I can describe it is by referencing the Running Up That Hill music video. There's Kate Bush, desperately attempting and continuously failing to push her way through never ending sea of grey drones. I feel ya, Kate.

Enough about me, though. Kate Bush is amazing. It's like Stevie Nicks and Glenda the Good Witch had some kind of magnificent red-headed love child with the voice of a bizarre alien songbird. Perpetually gorgeous and perpetually pulling off things at which I would typically roll my eyes. Dramatic interpretive dance? Check. Floaty gowns and spandex? Check. Big, feathery bangs? Check. The first time I saw the video for Wuthering Heights, I spent hours... literally hours searching the internet for the perfect red chiffon maxi dress. It's as if the woman is made of magic. She's a fashion fairytale in and of herself, and I, for one, remain under her spell.

Soft to the Touch

A little look see at what will be coming to the shop this week:

Gorgeous camel colored cape. Adorable button down tweed skirt. Amazing plaid shirt dress.
I have to say, I spent quite some time moving them back and forth from my own closet to my Etsy rack. I've finally decided that it's time to part ways, and hope that they all find new loving arms in which to rest.
Be free, my lovelies!

Hair Beautiful Hair

The weather is getting colder, the air is getting drier, and in turn, my hair is looking duller and duller. For some reason, facts like this always seem to dawn on me in fluorescent lit fitting rooms, and I wind up with a spontaneous walk in appointment at whatever hair salon is nearby. "Take off as much as you need! Something has to happen with this! Work your magic!" is what I typically end up telling the stylist. I never really know what will happen, but this time I got what I believe is some really good advice:

Brush your hair before bed.

That's right. Brush your hair. No, not 100 times. You don't have to go all Marsha Brady in front of the vanity, but in the frozen winter months, a good brushing goes a long way. Not only does it keep tangles at bay, it also brings the natural oils from your scalp down through your tresses to give those tired, dry ends a little pick-me-up. I may not have the science to back up this claim, but the older woman who had the future of my locks in her hands sounded pretty convincing. I'll leave you with her advice:

"Do what your grandmas and great-grandmas did, honey! Brush it every night before you go to bed. In fact, have your husband or boyfriend or girlfriend do it for you! Nice and shiny! Plus, it feels good, and that ain't bad."

Can't argue with that.

Steel Magnolias

Here's a little taste of what's to come in the shop this week. It's a much needed, long awaited update, and I'm quite happy to be getting back on the ol' Etsy horse, as they say. These lovelies don't deserve to be stowed away on a rolling rack any longer!
